Deep Seismic Reflection Project Between Avcılar, Sapanca and İzmit
 

In Avcılar, Adapazarı and İzmit, after 1999 Kocaeli and Düzce earthquakes, very big damage has been occured.

To find an answer “ Why these regions have been damaged more compared to the other regions”  question, a seismic reflection project has been conducted with Laboratoire de Geophysique Interne et Tectonophysique from France.

The pupose of this study is, obtaining the subsurface geological structure up to 1-1.5 km. depth and the reasons of the sever damage in this region .

A vibrator has been used as a source  and with a multichannel instrument data has been collected from various profiles.
