CRUSTAL STRUCTURE AND CALIBRATION PROJECT

Crustal Structure and Calibration of Seismic Stations in Turkey and Its Surroundings

A joint research project has been conducted between B.Ü, MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and LLNL (Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory)  to calibrate the seismic stations in and around Turkey and investigate the crustal structure.

Aims of the project:

During this project 2 ton explosion has been utilized in Keskin in November 2002. In a 300 km. region, 14 broadband, 13 three component short period and 60 one component portable seismic recording instruments have been deployed. In July 2003, the southern profile has been reversed by a quarry blast.
