Graduate Program in Earthquake Engineering
Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute
Çengelköy, Ýstanbul

This course is an introduction to stochastic process and random vibration theories. The topics that will be covered in the course include characterization of random variables, response of linear and nonlinear systems under random loads, extreme value and failure analysis, and applications in earthquake and wind engineering. More detailed course outline are presented below.

The prerequisites for  the course are the completion of a course on structural dynamics and the familiarity with the numerical analysis software MATLAB. The course will be  offered as 3-hours a week and in English at the Earthquake Engineering Department of Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute in Cengelkoy during the 2006-2007 Spring semester.

If you need more information about the course please contact Dr. Safak at erdal.safak@boun.edu.tr
